Laboratory Facility

KAM’s laboratory are privately-owned and located in Long Island City, New York. We are accredited by the Federal, State, and City agencies and supports a wide range of testing and analysis with the rendering of services 24/7.

Our project management, implementation, and laboratory activities are performed in strict adherence to Federal, State and City regulatory standards. KAM employs independently supervised Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs assuring unbiased results with high quality service. We excel with real-time project management, sampling log maintenance, sample analysis, data mining and reporting.

KAM laboratory equipment includes: (TEM’s, EDS, XRF, PLM, PCM, GC-ECD, FAA, GFAA); we invest in the newest technology and everything needed to support the testing of various types of materials. We have developed KAM’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs with strict standards and guidelines.

Air, water, soil, oil and other samples are collected and tested for hazardous materials, such as metals and PCBs. Presented below is the core group of the analyses we perform:

  • Asbestos Analysis
  • Lead Analysis
  • Metals (I&II) Analysis
  • Organic Analysis

Our team of highly experienced professional all have advanced degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Engineering. KAM’s team of laboratory scientists, analysts, and technicians have many years of experience and hold advanced degrees in their respective field of expertise.

Accreditation

KAM maintains a wide range of government-administered accreditation and certifications. Contact us for a complete up-to-date list.

Asbestos Analysis (Bulk and Air)

Bulk and air asbestos analysis is performed as follows:

  • Air Samples Testing by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM)
  • Air Samples by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) (AHERA)
  • Friable and Non-friable Organically bound (NOB) Building Materials by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)
  • Non-friable organically bound Materials (NOB) by TEM

Lead Analysis (Bulk, Wipes, XRF, and TCLP)

  • Lead in Paint by FAAS
  • Lead in Air & Emissions by FAAS
  • Lead in Non-Potable Water by FAAS
  • Lead in Hazardous Waste (TCLP test) by FAAS

Metals (I & II) Analysis

  • Metals (I&II) in Water by FAAS/GFAA
  • Metals (I&II) in Soil by FAAS/GFAA
  • Metals (I&II) in Solid & Hazardous Waste (TCLP) by FAAS/GFAA

Organic Analysis (PCBs)

PCB in solid & hazardous waste by GC-ECD. Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) have had widespread use in building materials and fixtures (e.g., lighting) up to 1977. Even today there are products in use and in the market that contain this toxic substance. KAM has implemented hundreds of projects for the survey, sampling and analysis of PCB containing materials including abatement project supervision.
